Running: Shoes

Getting started

Running is one of the worlds most popular sports with millions worldwide running everyday. For many, running is more of a chore than an enjoyable way of staying in shape, but with the proper footwear, stretching, and nutrition running can become more enjoyable and less dificult.

Some things you need to start...

- proper running shoes

- a water bottle

 - running shorts or joggers

 - a good spot to run

Shoes

The first thing you're going to need to begin running is a pair of running shoes. Now, before you go out and buy a 200 dollar pair of shoes it's important to make sure you're actually committed to running. When I started running back when I was 12 years old, I used an old pair of under armor trainers I got for 40 bucks the year before. Good running shoes are important if you want to increase mileage and plan on running everyday but to start you don't need anything fancy when starting out.

Most runners usually put the bulk of the miles they run onto a cheaper pair of trainers (such as any of these options) and save the pricier shoes for race day, as the higher end technologies aren't made for everyday wear and tear. Also it's important to consider the surface you will be running on. Usually road shoes are fine for most trails, but on muddy days its important to have a pair with good traction so you aren't slipping and falling throughout your entire run. I personally recommend the Brooks Revel 6 for any road or simple trail running as they have great traction, a responsive midsole foam, and a durable upper for only $100.

  1. I like how you tell what the features of the shoes are and how much they are. Also, I like how one is a more every day cheaper shoe and one is top of the line to compare them.
